ARDSLEY - Sleepy Hollow advances to the County Center for the first time in decades by knocking off Ardsley and snapping the Panthers’ 14-game winning streak.

No. 6 Sleepy Hollow (15-4) led 21-16 at halftime, but No. 3 Ardsley (17-3) – undefeated league champs – stormed out to an 8-0 run to reclaim the lead for the first time since early in the opening quarter. But the Horsemen found their composure and responded by closing out the quarter on a 16-7 streak. That gave Sleepy Hollow a four point lead entering the fourth quarter; the Horsemen would not trail the rest of the way and sealed the victory on the free-throw line.

Jamie Bucci scored 14 points in the win. Daniella Carrissimo chipped in ten and Grace Carr, Barbara Good and Alex Davis-Sumter each had eight points.

For Ardsley, league MVP Toni Pilla led the way with 14 points. Cassidy Wooten provided a spark off the bench and finished with seven points.

Sleepy Hollow had lost twice this season to Ardsley before pulling the upset. The Horsemen have now made the sectionals four years in a row after a 16-year drought. Victories in the opening and second round are the first playoffs wins for head coach Nick Romeo, now in his sixth year on the job.

Sleepy Hollow advances to play No. 2 Tappan Zee in the semifinals at the Westchester County Center.
