Top 30 LI Players to Watch: Ever Torres
Brentwood High School's boys soccer program has consistently generated top teams and athletes for the past ten seasons. Six Long Island championships since 2003 can do that to you.
One of those bright young talents emerged last season in the form of sophomore Ever Torres. The young foward led the Indians to its fourth straight Suffolk County Class AA boys soccer championship with 18 goals and five assists on the season as just a freshman.
With that, Torres is next on MSGVarsity.com's list of the Top 30 Players to Watch for the 2012-2013 school year.
His 18-goal season earned his a spot on the Newsday All-Long Island boys soccer team - the youngest member of the team by far.
Torres burst onto the scene last year impressing teammates and his coach, Ron Eden.
"I knew he was going to be this good," Eden said following the Suffolk County championship game. "A player like this comes once in a lifetime. He has great vision and is well beyond his years."
Teammate Jeffrey Medina echoed his coaches sentiments following Torres' two-goal performance in the Suffolk County title game.
"That kid is unbelievable," Medina said of Torres. "I always heard he was great, but he surprised me."
With accolades like that, we might be seeing Torres in more of these lists in future summers.
