Sophomore Karlee Spirit ended the game with a goal and two assists and freshman Austyn Cuneo also had a goal and an assist as Eastern went on to defeat West Essex, 5-2, in the Tournament of Champions final yesterday at The College of New Jersey. The decision left Eastern with a perfect 27-0 record and marked the school's fourth Tournament of Champions overall. Cuneo ended her varsity debut campaign by scoring 69 times, tying the state record that is shared by Kelsey Mitchell of Eastern, who did it in 2009, and Michelle Vizzuso of West Essex, who did it back in 1994. Eastern senior Alana Barry goalie had four saves, while West Essex senior Melissa Laible stopped 15 shots.

Iowa-bound senior Natalie Cafone tallied twice in the first half to lead West Essex to a 4-1 victory over Shore in the Tournament of Champions semifinals. Cafone's two scores were her 48th and 49th of the season as she helped open a 3-0 lead by halftime. Adrianna Farina added a marker early in the second half for good measure to ensure that West Essex would advance to face Eastern in the finals.

Eastern crushed Freehold Boro, 8-1, in the Tournament of Champions semifinals thanks to a huge night from freshman sensation Austyn Cuneo. Cuneo scored four times to raise her season total to 68, just one short of the state record. Jade Dixon scored twice for Eastern and Emma Johannson and Karlee Spirit also tallied to run their team’s record to 26-0 and move them into the finals against West Essex.
