The Olsen Files notebook: Day 13
Day 13, May 18
Today is the day Kevin will announce where he will attend college. It comes down to Wisconsin and Miami.
Wisconsin was the final trip of the off-season recruiting trips, so that school was very fresh in Kevin’s mind. Incredible facilities, off-the-charts coaching staff, awesome campus and great football.
As for Miami? Well, its Miami.
It also doesn't hurt that the area is surrounded by beaches and the 80 degree weather. Couple those perks with the resurgence of school's football program and you've got quite an attactive offer for Kevin. In addition, coach Al Golden signed a nine-year contract extension and has the right coaching in place to get the job done.
Kevin was full of smiles on this day, wearing his bright orange Miami long sleeve (that kind of gave it away...) standing alongside Sue, Coach and Raz. There was a lot of suspense in the air because Kevin hasn’t said anything to anyone. He waited until after school to make the big announcement.
Kevin and his group all go into Coach's office alone, and they are in there for about five minutes before they make the decision.
Kevin will be a Miami Hurricane.
This is something that Kevin has been dreaming about since he was a little boy. His big brother Greg was an all-American at the U, so little Kevin has been a fan pretty much his whole life.
And now he is living the dream.
He said he made the decision because he felt most comfortable with the coaches, and felt right at home. I think the coaches feel the same way about Kev; they aren’t going to take another quarterback for another two recruiting classes.
Kevin is the future of The U.
