Union City, North Bergen ready for clash

Union City will look to extend its winning streak to four games and continue its strong play when it visits North Bergen for a Hudson County softball showdown on Monday afternoon.
The game will be live-streamed exclusively on MSGVarsity.com at 4:30 p.m.
The Soaring Eagles have rattled off three straight victories over Bayonne, Ferris and, most recently, Weehawken. In its 21-2 thumping of Weehawken on Saturday, Union City scored 11 runs in the third inning en route to improving to 7-3 on the season.
Kenia Ozoria led the offense with three hits, while Shaela Rodriguez and Shalia Rolon each drove in four runs. Yarleen Dominguez and Ozoria also chipped in three RBIs apiece.
Prior to that contest, Melissa Mendoza tossed seven strong innings, surrendering just five hits and two walks in a tidy, 4-0 win over Ferris.
Meanwhile, North Bergen has enjoyed recent success, too. The Bruins enter with a 7-4 mark after defeating Holy Family, 14-0, on Friday. Prior to that, they used a three-run fourth to upend McNair, 6-1.
