Pat Mayo has resigned as head coach of the girls basketball program at Piscataway.
In eight seasons directing the Chiefs, Mayo built a 174-46 record that included six Greater Middlesex Conference, Red Division titles as well as five GMC Tournament championships.
“I coached a lot of great kids,” said Mayo, who mentored the likes of 2012 All-Stater Danaejah Grant, who is heading to Clemson, and Raven Gerald, who wrapped up her four years at Piscataway in 2010 with 1,541 points before moving on to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. “They have all been super people. And, I appreciated the chance to work with some solid assistant coaches.”
Piscataway, spurred by Grant, who finished her career with 2,565 points, went 22-7 this past winter, concluding with a 58-49 double-overtime loss to eventual Group 4 state runner-up North Hunterdon, in the North Jersey, Section 2 final.
