1. St. Patrick's Boys Basketball
The Celtics turned away Linden for the second time this season, beating the Tigers on their home court by 13. Michael Gilchrist came up big in crunch time, finishing with 23 points and 14 rebounds. MSG Varsity's No. 1 team remains undefeated at 17-0.
2. St. Anthony Boys Basketball
The Friars delivered victory No. 1,000 to legendary coach Bob Hurley earlier this week, defeating St. Mary's by 30. Unbeaten St. Anthony appears destined to collide with arch-rival St. Pat's next month in the Non-Public North B Final.
3. Delbarton Hockey
The Green Wave blasted rival Seton Hall Prep 10-0. Kyle Brennan and Josh Melnick each scored two goals. Delbarton is now 15-3, with a key Gordon Conference showdown against St. Augustine Prep looming on Tuesday.
4. Shabazz Girls Basketball
The Lady Bulldogs exploded for 84 points in the first round of the Essex County Tournament. Aleysha Lovett and Aliyah Handford are leading the way for 18-0 Shabazz.
5. Jackson Memorial Wrestling
The Jags bounced back mightily after their surprising defeat in the Shore Conference Finals by edging powerful High Point 31-28. Dallas Winston's pin at 189 lbs. propelled Jackson (15-3) to its biggest win of the season.
6. Randolph Hockey
The Rams blanked Kinnelon 6-0 to run their record to 15-0-1. Spectacular senior goalie Dan Fullam has recorded seven shutouts with a 0.88 GAA.
7. Bridgewater-Raritan Girls Swimming
The Panthers captured their third Somerset County crown in the last four years this past weekend. Bridgewater-Raritan's victory included a county record setting performance in the 200-yard freestyle relay ( 1:39:26), eclipsing a mark the Panthers set in 2009.
8. St. Joe's (Metuchen) Boys Swimming
The Falcons have done it again! St. Joe's won its 33rd straight GMC title on Saturday, outdistancing second place South Brunswick by over 193 points. Alex Burzynski captured both the 200 Intermediate Medley and 100 Backstroke, helping his team continue a streak which began in 1979.
9. North Brunswick Girls Bowling
The Raiders won their second straight CJ Group 4 title this past weekend edging Howell Twp. by 29 pins. Senior Amanda Pearce rolled a high game of 225 and an impressive 615 series.
10. Wayne Valley Girls Fencing
The Indians are rising stars in the world of girls fencing. Last week, Wayne Valley captured its first-ever Passaic County title and the school's first ever District 3 Sabre title. Freshman Francesca Russo turned in an undefeated individual Sabre title performance.
