2011 All-New Jersey girls soccer team

Meet the athletes who excelled during the 2011 girls soccer season. The teams were selected by MSG Varsity New Jersey staff writers:

    FIRST TEAM

    LEXI KNIEF
    PLAYER OF THE YEAR
    Ramsey, Sr., Midfielder

Prolific goal-scorer Lexi Knief of Ramsey was an obvious choice with her astounding 43 goals and eight assists. The senior led the Rams to a Group 2 championship.

    LISA ROVATSOS
    Bayonne, Sr., Midfielder

Lisa Rovatsos became only the second Bayonne Bee to ever score 100 goals in a girls soccer career in 2011. In her senior season, Rovatsos scored 34 goals and added nine assists, and plans to play both basketball and soccer for Caldwell College in the fall.

    RACHEL COLE
    Dwight-Englewood, Sr., Midfielder

Cole led the state with 50 goals and also notched 10 assists in helping her team reach the sectional final for the first time in school history. The senior, who finished with 135 career goals, also ranked fourth in scoring in America.

    STEFANIE GOMES
    Kearny, Sr., Midfielder

Looking over at some of the great players in Hudson County it was impossible to ignore 35-goal scorer Stefanie Gomes. In her senior season for the Kearny Cardinals, Gomes received Hudson County player of the year honors and finished the season with 35 goals and 10 assists.

    NICKOLETTE DRIESE
    Wayne Hills, Jr., Forward

Nickolette Driese is already committed to become a Lady Tar Heel, but that will have to wait since the Wayne Hills star forward is still only a junior. With 31 goals and 15 assists, Driese is quickly becoming one of the top girls soccer players in the state and will be a handful in 2012.

    MADISON HOLLERAN
    Northern Highlands, Jr.,  Forward

Northern Highlands coach Tara Madigan will be thrilled to get back Madison Holleran for her senior season next year. As a junior for the Highlanders, Holleran accounted for 31 goals and 17 assists while leading Highlands to an undefeated season and a Group 3 title.

    KERRIANN CAHILLANE
    Bishop Ahr, Jr., Forward

Despite losing a heartbreaker in the South Jersey Non Public A semifinal, no one could forget the tremendous season of Kerriann Cahillane of Bishop Ahr. The Trojans get back a great one next season as Cahillane was near the top of the scoring lead all season and finished with 29 goals and 15 assists.

    MACKENZIE COWLEY
    Red Bank Catholic, Jr., Forward

The junior class was extremely strong for girls soccer in 2011 and Mackenzie Cowley of Red Bank Catholic belonged in that elite pack. With 24 goals and six assists, Cowley enjoyed her second strong year on varsity and should be a real force in 2012.

    JACKIE REYNEKE
    Northern Highlands, Jr., Defender

Jackie Reyneke was an easy choice off of the backline for the Northern Highlands Highlanders. As a sweeper, Reyneke was part of an extremely diligent defense and also used her amazing long-throw abilities to set up a ton of goals. She finished her junior year with four goals and an incredible 28 assists.

    BROOKE HOLLE
    Northern Highlands, Jr., Goalkeeper

The Northern Highlands defense deserves a ton of praise, but one can’t overlook the play of a goaltender that is involved in 21 shutouts. Brooke Holle allowed only nine goals all season, the first undefeated season in Northern Highlands girls soccer history. In the team's championship game against Moorestown, Holle made two saves on breakaways before her team finally broke through and scored its two goals to win, 2-0.

    SECOND TEAM

    Jen Andresen, Jr., forward, Ramapo
Jessica Lee, Sr., midfielder, Dwight Englewood
Madison Holleran, Jr., midfielder, Northern Highlands
    Ani Sarkisian, Jr., midfielder, Cresskill
    Lina Proska, Sr., forward, Chatham
Sophie Lederer, Jr., forward, Glen Rock
    Addie Jensen, Sr., forward, Ramsey
Emily Werner, Sr., defender, Immaculate Heart Academy
Kelsey Witt, Jr., defender, Pascack Valley
Christina Sonageri, Sr., defender, Northern Highlands
Kristina Bronkowski, Sr., goalkeeper, Passaic Valley
