The Olsen Files notebook: Day 10

The Olsen Files notebook: Day 10

Day 10

On Friday morning, Kevin went to the Carolina Panthers facility and worked out with his brother Greg and was able to meet a few of the players and talk ball with some of the coaches. His father was there, too, and the plan was for them to circle back with us around 1 p.m. for interviews.

We met at Greg's house and one-by-one interviewed them about the pros and cons of South Carolina football, and his process in sorting this recruiting thing out. We were there for about three hours and then returned to our hotel. Tony and I were planning where to have dinner when the phone rang. It was coach; he said get ready, we are picking you up in 30 minutes, because Greg wants to take everyone out to dinner. We were blown away,

Instantly we got ready to go. We headed down to Capital Grille in the city of Charlotte and had one heck of a dinner with the entire family -- even Tate! The food was delicious; I had the lamb, Tony the filet, and we were more than full by the end of that meal.

It was so funny seeing Kevin with his NFL-playing brother, Greg. Greg is his idol and in some ways more of coach then a brother, and I say that in a good way. He constantly lectures Kevin on what to eat, where to train, how to train, what to study -- all things that have and will continue to separate Kevin in the process of being a successful high school and college QB.

Next stop, Badger Country… Madison, Wisconsin.
