Taylor Mills dominated the Long Island field hockey scene in 2011.

As a junior, Mills scored 21 goals, good for the most on Long Island as she helped lead Sayville to a dramatic 3-2 victory over Rocky Point in penalty strokes to capture the Suffolk County Class 'B' championship.

The title was only the second in Sayville history and the first since 2006.

The Golden Flashes field hockey and girls lacrosse star has been named one of MSGVarsity.com's Top 30 Long Island Players to Watch for the 2012-13 school year.

With many graduating seniors from the Suffolk County winning team, Mills will most likely be asked to step up in a leadership role. It's already a role that's she's been bringing herself slowly into.

Following the Suffolk County Class B field hockey championship, Mills was content on focusing on her teammates and less about her game-winning penalty stroke.

"All I could think about was [Olivia Cabral] and all the other seniors who have worked so hard to get here," Mills said following her winning shot. "I had to put it away for them."
