We continue on with our month-long feature on Long Island's Top 30 Players to Watch in the 2012-13 school year with Sachem East field hockey star Katie Trombetta.
Trombetta, now a junior, has already racked up a series of accolades in such a short time on the field with Sachem East High School. Last year as a sophomore she was second in scoring across Suffolk County with 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) and helped lead the Flamings Arrows to its first ever field hockey Class A state championship.
Trombetta shined on the big stage at the 2011 Long Island Championship, scoring two goals and adding an assist in Sachem East's 6-1 dismantling of Massapequa at Stony Brook University.
The Sachem East rising star was named an All-American last year and this summer was chosen to atten USA Field Hockey's Under-17 Junior National Camp. She is a two-time Newsday All-Long Island and All-Region selection.
With two more years still to go as a Flaming Arrow, we will be sure to see more of Trombetta and Sachem East's rise to the top of the field hockey ranks in 2012.
