A.J. Otranto scored on runs of 12 and 11 yards and tossed two touchdown passes to lift Floyd in the Long Island Class I championship game at Hofstra.

Sunday, November 25
(4) Floyd 61, (6) Sachem East 27
Quarterback A.J. Otranto threw for 108 yards and three touchdowns, as No. 4 Floyd (9-2) beat No. 6 Sachem East (6-5) in the Suffolk I title game at Stony Brook. Floyd will play Farmingdale on Friday at Hofstra for the Class I title. Floyd led Sachem East, 7-6, after the first quarter and never looked back. The Colonials took a 21-12 lead at the half and outscored the Flaming Arrows 40-15 in the second half.
SEMIFINALS
November 16-17
(6) Sachem East 33, (1) Connetquot 28
Ryan Dippel made a leaping catch in the end zone for a 20-yard TD pass from Danny Wolff with no time on the clock as No. 6 Sachem East stunned No. 1 and host Connetquot in a Suffolk I semifinal. East (6-4) will face Floyd for the county championship next weekend. Steven Casali rushed 44 times for 237 yards and two touchdowns, including a 5-yard run that made it 28-27 with 0:51 left. But Casali was stopped on the 2-point conversion try. However, Brian Balsamo recovered the on-sides kick for Sachem East and six plays later, Wolff and Dippel hooked up for the game-winner. The Thunderbirds finished 8-2.
(4) Floyd 32, (2) Sachem North 7
QUALIFYING ROUND
November 9-11
(1) Connetquot 39, (8) Ward Melville 7
Ryan Harvey had 16 carries for 179 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead No. 1 Connetquot (8-1) over No. 8 Ward Melville (5-4) in a Suffolk I quarterfinal. Quarterback Brian McKean finished 11/20 for 156 yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver James Higgins caught eight passes for 137 yards. Connetquot moves on to host Sachem East in the semifinals.
(2) Sachem North 24, (7) Bay Shore 7
Kevin Lathan, who started the season as the third-string fullback, rushed for a career-high 187 yards on 20 carries, including a 22-yard touchdown run, as the Flaming Arrows (7-2) advanced in the Suffolk I playoffs. Kevin Braglia scored on TD run, caught a TD pass and added an interception. Bay Shore finished 4-5.
(6) Sachem East 18, (3) Northport 7
Steven Casali rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns as No. 6 Sachem East upset No. 3 Northport in Suffolk I. Casali carried four times for all 65 yards of a scoring drive to open the second half that gave Sachem East an 18-7 advantage. The scoring run was 26 yards. The Flaming Arrows (5-4) will face No. 1 Connetquot next weekend. Host Northport finished 6-3.
(4) Floyd 48, (5) Commack 28
Chris Faison ran for 117 yards and two touchdowns and Diamonte Corley had a 56-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter to lead No. 4 Floyd (7-2) in a Suffolk Division I quarterfinal. No. 5 Commack falls to 6-3.
