LuHi: Hope For Humanity
On February 8 at 7:00, LuHi will be hosting its first Hope for Humanity benefit. LuHi hosts an annual benefit called “Hope for Haiti,” which is a way the school raises money for those needing relief in Haiti. However, because of the Sandy tragedies that occurred in October and November 2012, the organizers thought it would be a good idea to include Sandy victims. Because of this, they renamed the event “Hope For Humanity” so they can include both causes.
The two students running the event are Kenshay Kerr and NyJah Walters. Kerr and Walters have planned the date, t-shirts, try-out dates, etc. They held tryouts for this on January 15, 16, 17.
“Even though it’s a lot of work, it makes me feel good that this will all go to a good cause and hopefully make a difference in other people’s lives,” NyJah said.
Although Kenshay and NyJah are running this event, Mr. Scannell (principal of LuHi), Mr. Colangelo (Ministry Director), and Miss. Benicasa (Dance teacher) will be helping the two students with whatever they need. The t-shirt design has been selected and will hopefully be shipped to the school a week or two prior to the event so students can purchase them.
