Hicksville senior Lucas Munoz scored off a loose ball in front of the goal with 25:42 left in the game to give the Comets a 1-0 win over Webster Schroeder in the state Class AA finals at Middletown High School. Hicksville won its first state championship since 1979 and it's the second consecutive season Long Island has won the championship.

James Myers opened the scoring in the first half and Peter DiLorenzo and Ralph Hoyos added goals in the second half as Hicksville beat Shenendehowa Saturday afternoon in a state Class AA semifinal at Middletown High School. Brian McPartland made six saves to earn the shutout. Hicksville (17-1-2) will play Webster Schroeder (20-1-1) at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the championship game.
