1 | Iona Prep | 8-5 | 1 |
The Gaels won two out of three last week, including a blowout win over Mount St. Michael. Matt D’Ariano continues to pitch well for Iona but the team just isn’t consistently scoring runs |
|
2 | Mamaroneck | 7-2 | 3 |
The most potent offense in Class AA won a couple of tight, low-scoring games late in the week. Both came against rival White Plains. They’ve got a couple of games with Scarsdale this week before a matchup with Massapequa on Saturday |
|
3 | Briarcliff | 7-0 | 6 |
The Bears deservedly move into the Top 3 of the rankings after rolling through another week. The highlight was beating Fox Lane convincingly at home last Wednesday. |
|
4 | Ketcham | 5-2 | 4 |
The Indians got a solid 6-0 win on Sunday over Suffern and seem to have hit their stride. The biggest test of the season comes Saturday night at Dutchess Stadium when they face John Jay-East Fishkill. |
|
5 | Fox Lane | 2-2 | 5 |
Pitching has been erratic so far for the Foxes but it shouldn’t be an issue for long. There’s too much depth and talent on this roster for it not to. It’s a busy week ahead as they hit their league schedule. |
|
6 | John Jay-EF | 5-1 | 2 |
The Patriots outlasted Suffern on Friday but suffered their first loss on Saturday night when they lost a nail-biter to Beacon at Dutchess Stadium. Ketcham awaits on Saturday. |
|
7 | Marlboro | 8-0 | 8 |
Marlboro remained unbeaten with a 4-1 victory over Rondout Valley over the weekend. Eric Sandri has headlined a terrific pitching staff for the Dukes, who haven’t allowed more than five runs in any game. |
| 8 | Mahopac | 8-0-1 | 9 |
A big weekend for the Indians was highlighted by consecutive wins over arch-rival Carmel. Back-to-back matchups with Brewster is on the schedule this week. | |
|
9 | Harrison | 6-0 | NR |
Quietly the Huskies are off to a very good start. They had three wins last week, highlighted by Saturday’s win over Valhalla in their tournament final. Harrison’s allowed one run or less in four games. |
|
10 | Tappan Zee | 5-2 | NR |
Timely-hitting and terrific defense is going to carry this team a long way again this season. The defending Class A champs showed that again on Friday with a comeback win over previously-unbeaten Clarkstown South. |
