NYS REGIONAL FINALS
Saturday, June 2 at Clarkstown South HS
CLASS B
Yorktown 18, Queensbury 7
At Clarkstown South High School, Yorktown led 7-0 after one quarter and 15-2 at the half as the Huskers cruised to an 18-7 victory in the New York State Class B Regional Final. Brian Prestreau scored four goals in the first half to lead the Huskers and added an assist.
Nick Mariano (3A) and Connor Vercruysse each had a hat-trick in the first half for Yorktown. Brian Quigley (2G, 1A), Frank Fusco (2A), and Conor Gately (2G, 3A) rounded out the scoring for the Huskers.
Austin Graham and Zach Reilly combined for five saves.
Yorktown advances to face Garden City on Wednesday at Hofstra in the Class B state semifinals.
CLASS A
Niskayuna 23, Mamaroneck 3
At Clarkstown South High School, Mamaroneck (10-11) saw its Cinderella season come to an end against Section 2 powerhouse Niskayuna (20-1).
The Silver Warriors jumped out to a 19-3 halftime lead and coasted the rest of the way. Matt Sexton led the way with seven goals and five assists. Lucas Maloney (5G, 1A), Luke Goldstock (2G, 3A) and Justin Picciardi (3G 2a) rounded out the offensive production. Niskayuna dominated the dot, winning 29 of 30 faceoffs on the game.
For Mamaroneck — which advanced to the regional finals after winning its first-ever Section 1 championship — Peter Conley had a team-high two goals. Scott Greenberg added a goal and Thomas Brill made six saves.
Next up, Niskayuna will face Long Island's West Islip (Section 11) in the state semis on Wednesday at Hofstra University at 5:30 p.m.
CLASS C
Bronxville 15, Glens Falls 2
At Clarkstown South High School, Bronxville (20-1) captured its second straight NYS Class C regional title with a convincing victory over Section 2's Glens Falls (14-7). The Broncos will square off against Long Island's Shoreham-Wading River (Section 11) in the state semis on Wednesday at Hofstra University at 3:30 p.m.
Reilly Walsh and Brewster Warble paced Bronxville with three goals apiece. Henry Grass (2G, 2A), Jack Grass (2G, 2A), Matt Beherns (2G, 1A), Andrew Walsh (1G) and Gibbs Lilly (1A) rounded out the offensive production. Goalie Eric Pass made six saves.
The Broncos led 3-1 after the opening quarter but outscored Glens Falls 12-1 over the final three quarters of play. Reilly Walsh extended Bronxville's lead to 13-1 with 40 seconds left in the third quarter to trigger running time.
Bronxville lost a one-goal game in last year's NYS Class C semifinal against Long Island's Bayport-Blue Point.
