Northport's Krissy Unger was all smiles yesterday after as she shot a five-over 77 at

Sunken Meadow Park to win her second straight Suffolk individual golf championship. The senior finished the 36-hole tournament with a score of 156 and won by seven strokes.

"I wanted this really badly," she said. "I just went out there and played my game. It's a nice way to end my high school career." Unger finished with a birdie on the par-5 18th hole.

"I'm very proud of her," said Northport coach Brian Sundberg, who has had Unger on his team since she was an eighth grader. "You don't find many golfers like her; she's a hard worker and she's very dedicated to this sport."

Unger will be playing at Quinnipiac University next season.

In the team competition, Smithtown East won its second straight Suffolk title with a county-record score of 882, breaking the record of 905 by Sayville in 2010. The Bulls finished the season 14-0, their second consecutive undefeated season.

"They work very hard, and this is the result," coach Bob Woods said.

State qualifiers Carly Peters, a senior who shot 169, Cassie Hall, an eighth-grader who shot 176 and made a hole-in-one on the eighth hole on Wednesday, and Lindsay Selman, a senior who shot 177, led the way for Smithtown East.

Smithtown East will face Garden City Maroon on Tuesdayat Sunken Meadow for the Long Island Championship.
