In a game that featured 40 shots on goal combined, it was the lone shot off Jack Knowlton's stick that made the difference, as Darien posted its 4th consecutive victory 1-0. In a display of speed and dexterity, Knowlton charged down the wing around the defender and slipped the puck 5-hole to beat goaltender Kyle Aderno for his 6th of the season. The goal came just 28 seconds into the game.
From that point on, it was a defensive juggernaut as both teams struggled to add more tallies. The Crusader defense espeically proved to be tough as they successfully killed a 5 minute major and 5 on 3 power play both in the second period to holding the defecit to 1. Freshman keeper Aderno, in just his 3rd career start made 29 saves in the game.
Darien's hero of the game Knowlton, expressed his confidence in goaltender Max Rothston after the game, "He really holds down the fort for us, always does a great job, there's nothing to really worry about back there." If the Blue Wave continue to hold opponents to 10 shots per game or less, worrying will be a thing of the past.
