If versatility is the topic, then Staples rising senior Nick Kelly is certainly in the discussion as one of Connecticut's best.
A CHSCA Class LL All-State and All-FCIAC West first team selection, Kelly is coming off a season in which he ran for 684 yards and 13 touchdowns, while also catching 17 passes for 178 yards and four scores.
Defensively, Kelly registered 44 solo tackles and assisted on 23 others. The safety also had four passes defensed, two fumble recoveries, one sack and blocked a field goal.
The Wreckers took an undefeated record into last year's Class LL finals, and with skill players such as Kelly, the defending FCIAC champs will be aiming to add to their trophy case in 2012.
