Top 30 CT Players to Watch: Jack Massie
Still just a rising junior, Staples quarterback Jack Massie already has made quite a name for himself on the gridiron.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound signal caller, who already has 16 career starts under his belt, took over the reigns full-time last season and wound up piloting the 11-1 Wreckers to the FCIAC championship and a spot in the Class LL finals.
En route to first-team All-FCIAC honors, Massie completed 66 percent of his passes for 1,617 yards and 14 touchdowns with only four interceptions.
Massie, who competed in the MSG Varsity Tri-State Quarterback Showdown featuring 24 of the top signal callers in the region, was at his best when the Wreckers needed him the most as he engineered two scoring drives in the final seven minutes of the 2011 FCIAC title game to spark Staples' thrilling 31-27 victory over Greenwich.
Thanks to another year of development and a solid offensive line in front of him, look for another big season from Massie as a loaded Wreckers squad aims for back-to-back trips to the FCIAC and state finals.
