Surging New Canaan pulls away from McMahon
A balanced scoring attack and a dominant second quarter added up to another comfortable victory for the New Canaan boys lacrosse team.
Seniors John Brainard, Peter Kraus and Matt Blasco each had a hat trick for surging New Canaan, which extended its winning streak to seven games with a 15-5 triumph over McMahon Tuesday night at rain-soaked Dunning Field.
Mike Bossidy added two goals and four assists, while Peter Richardson and Wesley Rhudy also scored twice for the Rams (10-3), who took control of the FCIAC matchup by outscoring the Senators 8-1 in the second quarter.
"Our team is hitting its stride, we've come a long way since the start of the season," Bossidy said. "We did a nice job executing, we feel good where we're at with the postseason coming up."
Five different players scored for the Senators (8-5), who dropped their fourth straight.
Zack Bartolo, Ryan Scott, Damien Vega, Henry Todd and Greg Watson each had a goal for McMahon, which got 10 saves from Josh Miller.
New Canaan outshot McMahon 40-22, including a 26-8 margin in the first half.
