Connecticut girls basketball rankings (2/21)
1. Danbury (21-0)
The Hatters completed their first perfect regular season, then opened the FCIAC tournament with a 63-40 victory over Darien. Rebecca and Rachel Gartner combined for 40 points in the win.
2. Lauralton Hall (20-1)
Cassie Gildea poured in 23 points as the Crusaders routed Bunnell 73-47 in the SWC quarterfinals.
3. Trumbull (18-3)
The defending FCIAC champs got 20 points and five boards from Erin Moore in holding off Trinity Catholic, 52-46, in Saturday's quarterfinals.
4. Torrington (19-3)
The Red Raiders survived a scare from Naugatuck in the semis, but advanced to the NVL championship game where they'll meet top-seeded Holy Cross on Wednesday.
5. Wilton (14-6)
It wasn't easy, but the Warriors got their long-awaited FCIAC playoff win in a 49-47 victory over Norwalk.
6. Norwalk (15-6)
One of the hottest teams in the region entering the postseason, the Bears saw their seven-game winning streak snapped against Wilton.
7. St. Joseph (17-4)
Tough break for the Cadets, losing star guard Nancy Stablein to a torn ACL early in Saturday's FCIAC quarterfinal round loss to Stamford.
8. Thomaston (17-3)
The Bears have their sights set on a Berkshire League championship.
9. Trinity Catholic (13-8)
Mackenzie Griffin and the Crusaders will try to make some noise in the CIAC Class M tournament.
10. Stamford (12-9)
Quite a turnaround for the Black Knights, who lost by 18 to St. Joe's just five days before their victory in the FCIAC quarterfinals.
