FCIAC girls player of the week: Allison Macari
David Hahn
Westhill's Allison Macari has been named MSG Varsity's female FCIAC Athlete of the Week for April 23-28 by a panel of athletic directors and MSG Varsity reporters. Macari tossed a perfect game against Warde as the Vikings won 11-0 in Fairfield last Tuesday. She also allowed just one run on three hits in Westhill’s 8-1 win over McMahon on Wednesday. On Friday, Macari struck out 12 and walked none as she pitched Westhill to a 10-4 win over city rival Stamford. Macari was also solid at the plate with two hits, including a solo home run. Macari, an All-State pitcher who has led the Vikings to back-to-back trips to the state finals, will continue her career at Ithaca College.
What's your biggest athletic goal for 2012?
Macari: "To just keep working as a team. We'd love to win FCIACs and states, but we've got to take it game to game between now and then."
Who is your favorite teammate and why?
Macari: "I love them all."
What's the best piece of advice you've received?
Macari: "Coach Tom (Pia) and my aunt (Maryanne) have said don't worry too much about one thing. What happens happens."
Which athlete is your biggest influence?
Macari: "I'd say my teammates right now. We always pick each other up and play as a family."
What's your proudest accomplishment away from the game?
Macari: "Getting into the physical therapy program at Ithaca where my old teammate Julianne Vincent plays."
