McMahon's Bryan Daniello has been named MSG Varsity's male FCIAC Athlete of the Week for April 30-May 5 by a panel of athletic directors and MSG Varsity reporters.

The senior ace picked up a pair of complete-game victories during the week, allowing just one run in 14 innings while improving to 5-1 this season. On Monday, Daniello fired a four-hitter while beating Trinty Catholic 6-1. He walked none, struck out one and needed just 68 pitches to get the win. Daniello also belted a two-run home run, walked twice, scored twice, and stole three bases. Five days later, Daniello fanned nine batters in a 3-0 shutout of Ridgefield. He needed just 81 pitches to complete the game, allowing five hits while again walking none. Daniello, the reigning FCIAC Player of the Year, has signed to play at UConn.

Daniello: "To make the FCIAC and state tournaments, and hopefully have a shot at winning them."

Who is your favorite teammate and why?
Daniello: "Zack O'Connor and I have been friends since we were like 4 or 5, and have played together our whole lives. We've had some spectacular moments."

What's the best piece of advice you've received?
Daniello: My parents have encouraged me to be myself, have fun and keep a positive attitude."

Which athlete is your biggest influence?
Daniello: "Derek Jeter just does his job every day and is so humble. He's a leader and I just love the way he plays."

What's your proudest accomplishment away from the game?
Daniello: "Being able to volunteer a lot with Litte League baseball. I do a lot of clinics for younger kids, and it's really nice to be able to give back to the town that's given me so much."
