Livecast primer: St. Joe's vs. New London
MSGVarsity.com will be live-streaming the CIAC Class LL boys basketball semifinal showdown between St. Joseph and New London on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Bidding for a second straight trip to the state finals, defending LL champion and top-seeded St. Joe's (23-1) must get past the fifth-seeded Whalers (23-2) for the second time this season.
The Cadets won the first meeting, 57-52, in the final game of the 2011 Northeast Christmas Classic on Dec. 28 behind 19 points from point guard James Jennings and 17 from Towson-bound senior Timajh Parker.
The Whalers are led by 6-foot-4 senior guard Kris Dunn, who is averaging 23.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest. Dunn is headed to Providence next season.
The perennial powerhouses are two of the top programs in the state. St. Joe's has won 10 state titles, while New London -- which captured the Class L crown last year -- has earned eight championships in the L and M Divisions since 1975.
