Fairfield Ludlowe piled up 156 points to capture the team title at the 15th annual FCIAC cheerleading championships Saturday at Wilton High School.
The Falcons, who also won the partner stunt competition last week, were led by captains Ellie Hardiman and Audra Whitmore. It was Ludlowe's second title in three years.
"We had so much energy and were so happy to perform and show what we had," Hardiman said. "When they announced us as the winner we all started bursting out in tears. We didn't know what to do with ourselves."
St. Joseph was the runner-up with 145.5 points, while 2011 champion Warde finished third in the 17-team field with 134.5 points. Greenwich (132.5) took fourth, and Staples was fifth (130).
The judging criteria is based on overall routine choreography, stunts, jumps, standing and running, pyramids, voice projection, motions, spacing and formations, dance and transitions.
The FCIAC cheerleading championships will air on MSG Varsity, io Ch. 14, on March 11.
