Bridge students travel to Berkshire International Film Festival
This week at Bridge Academy public charter school four students traveled to the Berkshire International Film Festival.
The students were selected with an essay contest where the most persuasive essay would win the author a spot on the trip. Many kids applied and four students, Romaine, Aliyah, Edward and Nelson were selected.
While on the trip students experienced many new things and grew as new independent learning was encouraged. Students spent the weekend traveling around the town and selecting a variety of documentaries, narratives and short films to view. In total each student viewed between nine and twelve movies in the three day period.
The school’s art teacher received notice of grant funds from good friend and former coworker Sandy Lefkowicz. The grant money came from a donation made by the Westport Sunrise Rotary club who has supported Bridge Academy in other events and fundraising efforts in the past. The rotary came up with funds for four students and two teachers to travel to the film festival over the weekend.
