Bridge students collaborate with artist
This week at The Bridge Academy public charter, college prep school senior students met with graffiti artist ES. Students in art class met with the artist before this week to hear his story of growing up in Bridgeport and becoming a successful working artist.
The artist was introduced to the kids through the Westport Art Center’s connections program. The program brought ES to the school and listened when the kids begged for more. The kids were elated with the first visit, they wanted to be able to create a project with the artist. The plan was to think about a project for the following year, but listening to the children, the project was moved up. The students explained that they simply could not wait that long.
The project was set and went off without a hitch. Local art studio, studio 305 on Knowlton street hosted the event. Students walked to the studio with visiting artist ES and artist in residency at Bridge Academy, Dylan Cotton, along with staff from Bridge Academy and the Westport Art Center.
