    LI Girls Fencer of the Year

    DEMI ANTIPAS, Ward Melville, foil, Sr.
    Antipas went 32-0 this season to give her a 116-0 career record, which is the most career wins for any girl’s foil fencer in Ward Melville history. She won her third consecutive Suffolk individual foil championship and became the first female fencer in county history ever to win three straight individual championships. She also won her second Brentwood Holiday Tournament foil championship.

    ALEXA ANTIPAS, Ward Melville, sabre, Jr.
    Antipas went 31-1 this year, the best record in the county for a sabre fencer. She finished in first place at the Brentwood Holiday Tournament and won her second-consecutive Suffolk individual sabre championship. On Feb. 17, she won the Cadet Women’s Sabre National Championship at the Junior Olympics in Salt Lake City. She also won the 2011 Division II Sabre Championship this past summer. Antipas is ranked 7th in the Olympic qualification standings.

    NICOLE MCKEE, Valley Stream District, foil, Sr.
    McKee finished the regular season 32-0 and went 6-0 in the playoffs to win her second Nassau individual championship, which she also won in 2010. Her career foil record is 53-0. A versatile fencer, McKee fenced sabre in 2011 and finished with a 22-1 record. McKee won the Cadet Women’s Foil National Championship at the Junior Olympics in Salt Lake City on Feb. 17. She will be fencing for Notre Dame next year.

    YOUJEONG PARK, Half Hollow Hills, epee, Jr.
    Park went 30-2 this season, which is the best record in the county for an epee fencer. Park won her first career Suffolk individual epee championship and Brentwood Holiday Tournament epee championship.

    LI Boys Fencer of the Year
    JACK GREENFIELD, Oyster Bay, epee, Sr.
    Greenfield won his second straight Nassau individual epee championship and helped lead Oyster Bay to its second consecutive Nassau title. Greenfield has a 114-12 career record and a 20-2 career postseason record.

    ALEX HARWOOD, Brentwood/BBP, foil, Sr.
    Harwood won his first career Suffolk individual foil championship. He finished 36-6 this year, most wins in the county and the third-best foil record in the county. He also took first place at the Brentwood Holiday Tournament. Harwood finished his career with a 190-22 record. He will be fencing for Sacred Heart next year.

    MATT LAROSA, Oyster Bay, sabre, Sr.
    LaRosa won the Nassau individual sabre championship and won the Brentwood Holiday Tournament sabre title. He went 30-5 this year and has a 125-55 career record since starting as an eighth- grader. LaRosa also took second place for the LI junior Olympic qualifiers in the under-20 age group.

    A.J. SZILAGYI, Cold Spring Harbor, foil, Jr.
    Szilagyi went 30-0 and won his fourth straight Nassau foil championship. He is ranked 11th in the country in the under-17 age group, 29th in the under-20 age group, and 43rd out of 589 in the European Fencing Confederation Cadet age group. This past October, Szilagyi represented the United States in the Cadet European World Cups and took fifth place out of 195 competitors from 27 nations in the Budapest competition.
